songpan

ok, hopefully this works. most of the buttons are chinese characters, so i'm going with my former memories of how this works.

it's been brought to my attention by andrea's blog that i should be updating. my apologies. i have started the travelling part of my trip to china and internet is not as easy to come by here as it was in naomi's apartment.

i am currently residing (at least until tomorrow morning) in songpan, sichuan province, china. we arrived here on wednesday afternoon after a 10 hour busride from chengdu. it is absolutely beautiful up here. we spent the past 3 days riding horses over the mountains and camping. not exactly what i was expecting, but then again, most things rarely are. for one, it was raining and wet most of the time. that kind of puts a different spin on things. the mountain path was really slippery and it freaked me out a lot. i thought i was going to fall off a cliff and die many times.

tomorrow we leave to go to some really famous and scenic spot about a 4 hour busride away. after that we're not really sure. we might take a cruise on the yangtze, stopping in fuling (for any of you who have read river town) as one of the stops...or we might go to beijing. naomi's not really too excited about that one since she's been there before. i'm not sure if it's worth it to take a 12 hour train ride to go see all the tourist sights so i can say i've been there. anyhow, that's all for now. i'm going to let someone else use the internet now. 4 yuan an hour (~50 cents). pretty steep...

(btw, andrea, you better comment since i posted just for you)
