thanksgiving

well, i'm home. and actually have been for a few days now. i love being home.

there's no electricity in my room right now. only my room though. and my closet light actually works. it's weird. so i have an extension cord running to my room from the bathroom so i can have a lamp in my room. hopefully this will be fixed by the time christmas break rolls around.

as usual, there is more furnature in my house now than the last time i was. good thing i wasn't disappointed in that arena.

i had really great plans to do a lot of homework over break. in that respect, i'm basically a failure. but i have gotten to relax a lot, which might actually be better for me. and there's still another day of work left to be had.

i have managed to play lord of the rings risk and scrabble. i really like scrabble. a lot. today's new words learned from scrabble:
  • ravel -
    1. To separate the fibers or threads of (cloth, for example); unravel.
    2. To clarify by separating the aspects of.
    3. To tangle or complicate.
  • jinn -
plural of jinni; in muslim legend, a spirit often capable of assuming human or animal form and exercising supernatural influence over people.
seth likes to make up words when we play scrabble. a lot. so it's always a bit of a vocabulary/bluffing test to know whether the words are real or not.

i also don't think it's fair when a word means it's opposite as well. (see ravel above)

in other random thoughts: professors are really nice. i talked with a couple professors here that my mom knows to get help with projects. they don't even know me and they're still really nice and helpful.

that's all.

currently listening - why should the fire die?, nickel creek
currently reading - something about sql/jdbc
